Here is a really beautiful 2 + 2 G + E fixture with original transfer
etched shades in matching Gas and Electric size. Originally the larger
shades powered by gas had flames burning in them. We have electrified
all the arms. There are two porcelain sockets in the arms that point
down and are covered by cup shaped shade holders. We use porcelain
sockets in the down lights because the heat from the light bulb is captured
and porcelain sockets are the best heat absorption solution when coupled
with Teflon coated wire which we also use. In the Gas arms the heat rises
up off the light bulbs and is not captured so we use metal clad short shell
Leviton sockets because they are somewhat visible inside the shade.
Wonderful cast Gas cocks that are spear shaped and really beautiful cast arm
backs near the body on each arm. This type of chandelier can be a really
great Dining room Chandelier and the asymmetrical Gas and Electric
Combination Form can be very interesting over an oblong or rectangular table. They provide plenty of illumination. The Combination Form was created because people wanted to have their Gas option in case the New Electric Technology did not work.
