Restoration is the rebuilding of a form back to its original state. Renovation is to make as good as new or to restore. With antique lighting restoration, knowledge and experience is a must. There is a learning curve that takes years if not decades to become familiar. The light can be distressed in one or many places and it is our job to repair and bring it back to life to its original/genuine state. The design and details the light displays represents the period in which the artisans or craftsman created it. The designs and details mirrored the interior designs of the home such as moldings, wall paper, medallions, hearths, fireplace borders, window dressings, curtains, paintings, furniture. The shade patterns and fitter sizes depict the style of light and period of time the light was born. From castings, to spinning, to lost wax, to turnings, to the ways the arms are bending and twisting, the light took meticulous labor and depicted the time period in which it was made. Care and attention had to be consistent for the details to be produced with quality. Our business spans the Victorian era from approximately 1860 to 1940. During this time there were many periods of different style lighting that existed. |
