Very Large and tight 16 light G+E fixture. Would have
had 4 operational Gas Candles as a back up to the 12 electric lights.
Quite unusual fixture with open work large (9") diameter body.
This type of open work is an identifiable characteristic of the
G + E period. The period was very short, 1885 to 1905 and
then fully electric fixtures came in. Very ornate construction,
no detail spared in every inch of fixture. 24 inches diameter
42 inches long. The tight configuration of the arms is also a quite
unusual aspect of the fixture and was made possible by the introduction
of electric sockets. You won't see many fixtures like this one. All fluted
tubing was used. Quite a bit of cast brass detail. Wonderful and interesting
Foyer Entry light.
