Thackera did business in the 1880's out of Philadelphia
and is known for their Aesthetic Chandeliers. Very
often, as in this case, they used Longwy Pottery cylinders
in the chandeliers. This one has the same flowers as the
braces that decorate the arms. Depicted on one side is a bird
and on the opposite side 2 Ducks swimming with a salmon
background which I believe is meant to be a Full Moon
as the bird is in Yellow Sunlight. The fixture boasts very large
Castings as well as really super Deep Etched shades with spades.
The birds are a very significant symbol of the Aesthetic Movement
and the spades etched into the shades are characteristic
Eastlake Details.
