Probably the earliest fixtures we have acquired this year, these Fellows, Hoffman and Co. Chandeliers
from 1857 make a great period statement. The gold and black finish is similar to the fixture in plate 40 in Gas Lighting in America. The fixtures are a little bit different, but you can see from the plate that they were manufactured by the same company. The figural heads look down into the room and are framed with gold garlands. Considered Rococo Revival these are among the earliest Gas chandeliers in the United States and would have been in a Double Parlor of an early Victorian House.
