This is the nicest Chandelier we have acquired this year. An 8 Light Gas and Electric Chandelier from 1885. Many Aesthetic details and Eastlake design elements. Probably Thackera and Sons out of Philadelphia.
8 wonderful matching Deep Etched Gas Shades with very exceptional detailing. Many of the G + E elements like open work body. Egg and Dart detailing. Pierced in relief castings. 36 inches drop and 32 inches diameter.
Really wonderful Dining room Chandelier. Or a large area fixture in an Open Concept renovated house of the period. The horizontal parallel arched struts also is reminiscent of Gas and Electric. Special with the rope twisting. And coming out of a body with reptile scales. Other serpentine feature are the arms and arm backs. These serpentine details especially remind of Thackera.
