We recently acquired this Eastlake Chandelier
and a 3 Rod harp (906h) that recently sold. They both
came out of a Town house in the South End of Boston.
This fixture was in the Dining room. Wonderful Eastlake detailing
with black and gold stenciled design. Greek key transfer etched Gas shades
add a classical feel to the Chandelier.
Eastlake was a reaction to Victorian ornamentation and the ornate
designs of the earlier revival periods that the Gas chandeliers exhibited.
By our modern standards it is still greatly detailed but in a restrained
Victorian way.
