This very large Cast Brass Gas Lantern is a
wonderful example or Victorian exoticism in the
1880s Aesthetic Movement. The influence of Asian
cultures is evident in the castings of the lamp.
Minarets, crocodiles, and crescent moons are mixed
with East lake Aesthetic reticulated detailing.
Even the pierced areas are castings. This is a
quite substantial piece of period craftsmanship.
Recently removed from a large scale residence on
Commonwealth Ave in Bostons Back Bay.
